Behold Your Mother!

We have been studying the Book of John in the Women's ministry at my church. Last weeks study was on John 19 and I wanted to share the verses that really grabbed a hold of my heart. John 19:25-27.

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mothers sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, Woman, behold your son! Then He said to the disciple, Behold your mother! And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. (John 19:25-27 NKJV)

At this point in the Book of John, Jesus is on the cross. He has been scourged with 39 stripes, has a crown of thorns on His head, He has been mocked, spit on and has carried His cross to Golgotha (hill of the skull) and He has been crucified. Jesus is there on the cross bloody and beaten and He is thinking of His mother Mary. All that He has just endured and He is so focused on the will of His Father, to die on a cross for our salvation. His love is so great, that in all that He has just endured He loves His mother so much that He makes sure that she is taken care of.

This is just so amazing to me! This chapter has really encouraged me. Jesus' love is just so awesome!! The cross has always been the reminder of how great His love is for us as well as the great sacrifice He made for us. This study and this passage has reemphasized just how awesome God's love is!! It is one of the basic foundations of the Christian faith and the basis of our salvation. It is truly something that needs to be remembered very day!!

I hope this has encouraged you as it has encouraged me!

God Bless You!!

Sister in Christ,

Michelle
